Painted by Botanical Artist Lois Nakhleh, the Calotropis procera (Sodom's Apple) evidences the beautifully contrasting purple and green as well as captures the milkweed quality.
Calotropis procera grows mostly as a perennial shrub rather than a small tree and can be found in and near the Jordan valley extending to the Red Sea area.

About the artisan: Joan Musgrave studied art at Belfast College of Art and Hornsea College of Art, London. She lived in Zambia for 13 years and worked on projects for the Livingstone Museum and the Wildlife Conservation Society of Zambia. She then lived in Edinburgh for 20 years where she taught art to physically handicapped people and exhibited her work. She came to live in Jerusalem in 2000, where she shared in an art group and met Lois Nakhleh. The two then worked together to produce the Palestinian wildflower calendars.
All profits from the sale of Wildflowers of Palestine botanical prints are used for wildflower conservation in Palestine at Mashjar Juthour.
